The original artwork of Audrey Hepburn was drawn in ballpoint pen then once completed her identity was censored with markers. You can view the full video of this on YouTube here. This was imaged and later the background was digitally altered to create this prints from.
The reasoning for marking over/ out her eyes was not to undermine Audrey Hepburn who as we know was an amazing and beautiful woman. It's about how famous the image of her here actually is. We all know it's Audrey Hepburn, even without seeing here eyes. No. The reason is to highlight the issue of obsession with fame and celebrity in society! Too many people seek out fame at any cost. Ego corrupts the spirit. Marking out her identity is recognize this and take the opportunity to talk about it.
The digital background has a small 'cloud' of graphics that are also unique, they are custom created shapes resembling a combination of a star and a Fleur de Lis.
